April theme: Pedestrians crossing

theme pedestrians crossingI recently joined the City Daily Photo community, and this is my first time to participate the monthly theme day. For April the theme is pedestrians crossing, and when I learned that, I knew immediately where and what to shoot.

Here we are at Boulevard Gambetta, which is a part of the ring boulevard surrounding the old center – and where the medieval city walls once rose. The actual pedestrian crossing is somewhere there behind the bus, but the people here in Nîmes rather cross the street whenever the chance comes. And naturally I’ve learned this French habit, too 😉

  1. Bonjour, Aurore. Well, it seems to be a latin thing, not respecting zebra crossings. Here in Barcelona, nobody does either, with the exception of some slower moving elderly people. Les lois sont si souvent faites pour etre ignorees.
And welcome to the CDP family, by the way!

    • Thank you, Rob & Mandy! It’s funny to look back, and see myself as the only one obiedently waiting for the lights to change… Why wait, if no cars are coming? That’s a good question!

  2. Mais naturellement! Welcome to CDP!

  3. HAhaha, you are among friends with THAT habit!! If I ever die by misadventure it will be because I got run over crossing the road!!!

  4. sometimes it does seem silly to wait at a crosswalk! looks cold out…welcome to cdp and happy theme day 🙂

    • Doesn’t it! In my home country I feel like a rebel crossing the street when no cars are nearby, but the lights are red for the pedestrians…
Usually there are more people lurking for the chance to cross the street, but I guess the cold and rainy spring days keep people inside. Thanks for the wishes!

  5. Haha, so typical – it is more challenging to find pedestrians crossing *properly* 🙂 Nice theme choice!

  6. Good theme day post

  7. Welcome to the City Daily community. There are so many excellent blogs here and I’m glad to learn of a new one. This is a marvelous realisation of the theme. People here seem to view crosswalks as optional as well.
