Bigot’s statue

When you take the steps of Jardins de la Fontaine to go up the Mt Cavalier, you will pass by the statue of Antoine Bigot (1825–1897), a protestant and a poet born and died in Nîmes, who wrote his prose in the local Occitan language. The statue was erected in his honor in 1903, and there’s also a school named after him.
